Fontaines D.C. is a quintet from Dublin endorsing an indie-punk that’s concise and direct, with emphasis on authenticity. Provocative.
This can be seen on the double A-side of their penultimate single: “Chequeless Reckless” and “Boys In The Better Land”. Songs where they have even decided to dive deeper into their influences they quote without hesitation; The La's, The Pogues and Buddy Holly, until finding some more hypnotic riffs, and with a halo of krautrock on which they download lyrics of poetic simplicity.
In their previous singles like “Liberty Belle” and “Hurricane Laughter”, you are reminded of others. The Modern Lovers, The Fall, Iggy Pop or The Strokes, that harmonized in direct choruses and indie instrumentation but with the rough seventies style of The Stooges.
Their first LP, “Dogrel” recognised for its great success in their live show in the United Kingdom sold out sign on all their tour dates on offer at the end of last year. They were support band to Shame during the last tour around the United Kingdom and have announced that they will be joining their record label pals IDLES on their next tour to the United States.Close
