FIB Heineken Organization, together with the city mayor Manuel Llorca, have appeared in a press conference to take stock of the Festival twelfth edition.
On the one hand, Llorca has emphasized the achievement reached by changing the dates to the month of July, something that the Consistory had been asking for several years. He has also mentioned that, as of today, any incident has occurred and he has taken the opportunity to thank the State law enforcement, local police, fire brigade and volunteers’ labour.
On the other hand, the Festival managers, José Luis and Miguel Morán have described FIB Heineken 2006 as an unprecedented success, being the first event of such characteristics in Spain to sell out passes almost two months in advance. A date that has congregated 130.000 people –and 6.000 accredited ones- (60% of the passes sold in Spain and 40% abroad, mainly in the UK) where, through space optimization, venue improvement and rest areas enlargement, the audience has been able to enjoy the experience more.
Four days with 101 musical performances, 134 extra musical performances (short-films, art, fashion, theatre, dance and courses), incorporating this year the Unpop-Classik project, with the European Union support, bringing four rock bands with a symphonic orchestra to four European festivals, and the MUSAC participation, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León, which has brought some of its works near the audience.
Regarding future plans, Miguel Morán has mentioned that 2006 will be the last year to hold the traditional Beach Party, given the Town Hall complaints about the dirt it produces and in foresight of any possible security issue, according to the Government Delegation.
Finally, they have thanked the institutional support and public order forces, the Maraworld team work, the Sold Out company production, as well as the sponsors’ support, especially Heineken, with whom the collaboration agreement has been extended for three more years.
Thanks to everyone for making the FIB Heineken a great Festival.
