Benicàssim 2008 Outcome

XIV Edition of FIB Heineken Outcome

With over 148,000 people in attendance during the four days of the Festival, the fourteenth edition of FIB Heineken (2008) was a huge international success, featuring 102 musical performances and another hundred or so extra-musical activities. The event has generated an economic impact in the area of €14,000,000.

The 2008 edition closed with attendance figures similar to those of FIB Heineken 2007. While final figures are still being calculated, we know that over 148,000 people entered the concert venue during the four days of the Festival.

Of the total number of attendees, somewhere between 55 and 60 per cent came from abroad, which once again underlines the important repercussions this event has beyond our borders.

During the four days of FIB Heineken 2008, attendees enjoyed a total of 102 concerts and over 100 extra-musical events (short films, fashion, art, theatre, dance, and summer courses).

Over 1,000 accredited journalists covered the Festival, 30 per cent of whom report for foreign medial channels.

The launch of the Limpio y Verde project demonstrates the organisation’s commitment to protecting the environment and “sustainability”. Besides exclusively using recycled paper for the Festival’s ad campaign, “clean and green” measures have been taken, such an efficient system of waste separation, recycling and elimination; the use of LEDs and low-energy light bulbs to illuminate the venue; and the planting of 2,000 trees over the next three years to compensation for CO2 emissions.

The parallel event in Madrid, Saturday Night Fiber, was also a smashing success with more than 9,000 people in attendance.
All of this has been made possible thanks to the support of the institutions, the sponsors, the production company Sold Out, and the office work of Maraworld.
