Social Responsibility

We at Maraworld are aware of the role festivals play, not only as cultural and economic driving forces, but also as social driving forces that can take advantage of their communication capacities and influence to inform and provoke reflection on different social questions and issues.

As such, FIB continues to support the informative and awareness-raising initiatives of various NGOs and non-profit organisations.

From 2003 until the Festival’s last edition in 2009, FIB has kept a very close relationship with Intermón Oxfam in terms of their needs in regards to campaign information, donations and new member recruitment. We must highlight the benefits earned through the Artist vs. Press football match and the parking management the NGO carried out and which benefits were destined to Intermón Oxfam’s different campaigns. In 2011, FIB will be collaborating with the NGO Save the Children.

Ayuda en Acción

Save the Children is a nonprofit organization, plural and independent from a religious and political point of view. Their main objective is the active defense of children, especially the children living in conditions of disadvantage.

Save the Children counts with organizations in over 29 countries and are involved in over 120 help programs. For this NGO, children are a priority and they act wherever is necessary without caring or letting any political, ethnic or religious matters intercede. Since 1919 they work in the main and most sensitive areas for this sector: education, health, nutrition, infancy, preventing sexual abuse, reuniting children with their families after natural disasters and wars, etc.

They’ve been working in Spain for over twenty years in different programs aimed at helping Spanish children as well as children from all over the world. For Save the Children, respect for human rights must start during childhood. Because of this belief, they fight so that being under age doesn’t mean having fewer rights both within and outside our frontiers.
