It is our pleasure to continue confirming artists who will be part of FIB Heineken 2007, and, above all, it our duty to keep informed the almost 12,000 people (approximately 50% of the allotted three- and four-day passes for this year’s Festival) who have placed their trust in us by purchasing their passes in advance in December. As such, five months before the thirteenth annual Festival, only slightly more than half of the three- and four-day passes with camping-area rights remain available for sale.
In addition to the eight names we confirmed a few weeks ago, the following artists will also be part of this year’s line-up:
The Bostonian Armand Van Helden, a producer and DJ on the borderline between house and breakbeat, and the father of indisputable hits such as ‘U Don’t Know Me’.
The incredible Conor Oberst’s band, Bright Eyes, who will be giving us a good taste of their recently released ‘Cassadaga’ (2007).
From Tucson, Burns and Convertino, otherwise known as Calexico – once the underlings of Howe Gelb in Giant Sand, and now the masterminds behind of one of the most robust recording labels and one of the most talked-about live shows on the U.S. roots-rock scene.
Herman Düne, citizens of the world and acclaimed for their album ‘Not on Top’. An homage to Van Morrison, with touches of Sebadoh and Jonathan Richman.
The outrageous London trio known as Klaxons who have surprised one and all with their debut album, ‘Myths of Near Future’ (2007), and their incendiary live shows.
Plus Swedish guitars with Mando Diao, one of the bands in greatest demand by Festival attendees and members of our forums.
Microhouse, minimal techno and pop join hands in the sounds of Matthew Dear Live & Band, one of the most exciting up-and-coming names in U.S. dance music today.
Micah P. Hinson is yet another one of the most important U.S. rockers today, delving in popular music and drawing inspiration from the legacies of Dylan, Seeger, Guthrie and even Josh White.
For all the fiberfib forum members and Festival attendees who have been requesting their presence for years, we bring you, wrapped in the finest gift paper, the British Muse and their recent ‘Black Holes and Revelations’ (2006).
The surprises do not end here. For the first time in Spain, the Brazilian Os Mutantes will be performing at the Festival. Between Caetano Veloso and Syd Barrett, this is no doubt the rock band that has brought the most glory to the land of Bossa Nova. ‘Panis et Circenses’, ‘A Minha Menina’ and ‘Bat Macumba’ are true gems.
Peter Bjorn and John who, like the good Swedes they are, create everlasting pop melodies that are full of life, set to music in just the right way and arranged with great style.
Also from Sweden, but via France, we will hear the songs of Peter Von Poehl, who condenses decades of European pop – from Donovan to The Korgis – on ‘Going Where the Tea Trees Are’, featuring dreamlike arrangements of Van Dyke Parks’ ‘Song Cycle’ and Nilsson’s ‘Pandemonium Shadow Show’.
Simian Mobile Disco, or SMD, arrives to Benicàssim from London with a hardcore live show that will make us dance until we drop. You can’t miss these guys who mention DAF, Black Sabbath, Nina Simone and Can as some of their influences.
Two Lone Swordsmen, one of the most interesting British electronic-music bands today, recording for Warp and directed by Andrew Weatherall, and whose many milestones include having created the classic ‘Screamadelica’ along with Primal Scream.
We will continue to keep you updated.
