The time has come to announce some exciting news! The Festival is drawing near and we now have the first confirmations of a line-up that little by little is taking shape and promises, as in years past, to be an incredible cross section of the diverse styles and grooves breathing life into the music of our times.
Fuelled by rock and rebellion, the history-making Iggy & the Stooges will be performing and promoting their outrageous “The Weirdness”. Any of you who might not be familiar with this mythical rush of adrenaline are in for a treat – and you have a few gaping holes in your CD collections to fill.
Following the same electrifying thread, the Festival will also be featuring the Arctic Monkeys, coming from Britain at their hottest to show us what all the fuss is about. And, while we’re on the rock path, the long-awaited and soaring Swedish band The Hives will also be appearing.
On top of this, we are also thrilled to announce the confirmation of !!! – an authentic explosion of funk that will be performing the irresistibly dance-inspiring “Myth Takes”. And, while we’re talking about dance music, we can’t help but mention the arrival of an undisputed legend in the world of electronic music – The Human League. If it were not for this band from Sheffield, the term electro-pop would never have come into being.
The list goes on with the infectious beat- and chorus-driven rhythms of the Brazilian band Cansei de Ser Sexy. As the final touches to this first round of line-up announcements, it is our pleasure to report the Festival will also be featuring the happy and sunny pop sounds of The Magic Numbers as well as the fascinating experimental edge of Animal Collective.
Eight names now – the first pieces of the FIB Heineken 2007 puzzle – a year that is sure to be as emotion-packed and unforgettable as ever!
