Maraworld and the international organisation Designers Against AIDS (DAA) have joined forces in the fight against AIDS and had presented the projects they are developing together to support this noble cause on June 4 at La Casa Encendida in Madrid.

DAA is a non-profit organisation founded in Belgium in 2004 with the mission of raising awareness about AIDS in the international media through a variety of actions aimed specifically at young people. On this occasion, with the intention of using music and fashion to promote safe sex among new generations, DAA will exhibit – this coming July in the Mustang Fashion Weekend tent at FIB Heineken (Benicàssim; July 17, 18, 19 and 20) – the ‘DAA Remade’ collection: an edition of unique garments custom made by some of the most outstanding artists, musicians and designers of the Spanish avant-garde. This exhibition will end with an auction on eBay which will take place following the celebration of the event.

Names like Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Algora, Amaya Arzuaga, B-Guided, Carles Congost, Carlos Díez, Chicks on Speed, Daniel Riera, David Delfín, El Delgado Buil, Krizia Robustilla for EP3, Fake, Fangoria & Nancys Rubias, Fanzine 137, Hidrogenesse, Hugo de la Rosa, Ion Fiz, Jacobo Espina Conde, Jan Iu Més, La Casa Azul, La Casita de Wendy, Lenfenterrible for Neo 2, Líneas Albiés, Mateo + Cristina, Miriam Ocariz, Mutador, Paco Peregrín, Silvia Prada, Spastor, Vampirella + Joan Crisol + David Cantero o Zazo & Brull, among others.

Several of the world-famous artists who will be performing at FIB Heineken and Saturday Night Fiber (Madrid; July 19) will also be participating in this initiative, designing a limited collection of T-shirts to be sold exclusively at the FIBshops at both events. Furthermore, to celebrate this collaboration between Maraworld and DAA, an announcement was made last April inviting people to participate in a contest to design the official FIBERS AGAINST AIDS T-shirt. The design “Use the Head” by Raquel Vila Díaz was the one chosen by the jury.

All proceeds obtained from these actions will benefit DAA for the purpose or promoting AIDS education and prevention programmes through awareness-raising campaigns aimed at young people around the world.
