On this upcoming March 28th at 8:30 pm, ‘Earth Hour’ will take place – an initiative spearheaded by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to ‘prove that the war against climate change is possible’. WWF has more than a billion supporters of this cause living in some 1,700 cities in at least 80 countries.
The objective of ‘Earth Hour’ is to send a clear message to the international community about the importance of adhering to the Kioto Protocols, an issue soon to be addressed by the United Nations Climate Change Conference, scheduled to take place in December of this year in Copenhagen.
Maraworld – and, by extension, FIB Heineken’s ‘Limpio y Verde’ venture – join forces with this initiative to encourage everyone to turn off their lights on the 28th of March from 8:30 to 9:30 pm.
We at Maraworld are convinced of the importance of raising awareness about sustainable development in a way that both minimises our negative impact on the environment and respects our surroundings. It is specifically for this reason that FIB Heineken, since 2008, has been promoting its ‘Clean and Green’ initiative, with crystal clear messages about recycling, the responsible use of water, and realistic ways to compensate for carbon-dioxide emissions.
