1) Objectives
With five editions behind our backs, and with the festival positioned as one of the most wanted in the national and international calendars, we present now the regulations for the seventh edition of the International Short Film Festival of Benicàssim which will take place from the next 20th (same day of the Opening Party) till the 24th (day of the Beach Party) of next month of July 2006.
2) Entry requirements
Any type of film (fiction, animation, documentary, experimental), shot in any system but that can be presented on 35 or 16 mm., and completed before March 31st, 2006.
For preview only, VHS (PAL)/ DVD may be submitted.
The running time must be 30 minutes at the most.
Industrial or commercial films are not accepted.
3) Entry procedures and selection
All those interested in this Festival should be sent to the festival with
- a VHS videocassette of the film (only PAL format) or a DVD
- three commercial stills of the film and one regular still of the filmmaker
- a copy of the dialogue (with another one in English if the film has not been shot in that language)
Entries must be sent via mail (specifying “no commercial value-for cultural purposes”) declaring a value less than US$ 25 or € 20 to:

All those selected for the Festival will be informed before June 10th, 2006.
4) Shipping of the films
Screening prints (16 or 35 mm) of selected films on videocassette must be sent in the way that we will inform to the participants in due time.
Selected films whose prints have not been received by June 20th, 2006 will be considered as non-selected.
5) Return of the films
16 and 35 mm prints will be sent before August 15th, 2006. VHS/DVD will be kept in the Festival’s video library to our inner consult.
6) Shipping and insurance
Shipping costs must be paid by the applicant. Return expenses will be on the Festival.
Insuring costs covering the period between reception and return will be covered by the Festival. In case of loss or damage during this time, the responsibility of the Festival is limited to covering the costs for replacement of the print.
7) Subtitling
Spanish subtitles will be highly appreciated. English subtitles will be necessary.
Translation by voice over is not acceptable.
8) Guests
Directors whose films have been selected will be invited to the Festival for the whole duration of it.
Accommodation and food tickets will be provided by the Festival to all the guests. Besides, the Festival will pay an amount of € 180 on the travel costs to all those coming from abroad.
These expenses will be paid to the filmmaker (or the main actor) of the selected films and cannot be passed on to another person.
9) Prizes
Prize to the Best Short Film F.I.B.: € 6.000, plus a screening on the TVE show, Versión Española and an option to be included in the DVD resume of the year of the FIB.
Prize to the Second Best Short Film F.I.B.: € 3.000.
Prize to the Best Screenplay: € 1.500.
Prize to the Best Actor: € 1.500.
Prize to the Best Actress: € 1.500.
All these prizes will be decided by a jury of five members.
Prize of the Audience: € 1.500.
Should an ex aequo be the result, both the winners will share the prize in two equal parts.
10) Television broadcasting
Participation in the Festival implies giving Spanish and foreign television channels the right to broadcast extracts (limited to 10% of the total length and not exceeding three minutes) of the film.
11) Non-specified cases
All those especial cases presented to the Festival will be subjected to the approval of the Committee for their participation.
Participation in the festival implies accepting without reservation all the terms included in these regulations. In case of dispute, the Spanish version of these will hold legal value.
