These days, in which revisionism of so many styles is starting to become irritating, there are bands that still make music with a desire to truly cultivate a sound that is theirs alone. This is perhaps a good way to describe These New Puritans.

This British four-member band has no intentions of being limited by post-punk parameters. What Thomas Hein, Sophie Sleigh-Johnson and the brothers Jack and George Barnett are about is exploring as many sounds as they can along their way.

“Beat Pyramid” (Domino, 2008) features sixteen songs with driving beats and mysterious lyrics; and, as their debut album, it shows all the signs of a bright future for These New Puritans.
