Five years ago, before many of today’s rock musicians were swayed by the power of funk, The Rapture skilfully set the pace, absorbing and conveying the axioms that people like ESG, Gang Of Tour, A Certain Ratio and Section 25 established in the 80s. As such, rock became danceable again, without any absurd prejudices.

“House of Jealous Lovers” was the single that broke down the walls of boredom: with blasting riffs and a wicked rhythm section, they shot arrows of explosive and thrilling post-punk, which only got better with the production values of DFA, otherwise known as James Murphy, the driving force behind LCD Soundsystem. Besides this hit, “Echoes” (2003) yielded others great songs along the same vein such as “Olio” and “Sister Saviour”. And, now, “Pieces of the People We Love” arrives at just the right time for The Rapture to reclaim its domain.
