Peter Von Poehl is an accidental globetrotter, the kind of guy who never thought of travel as a journey of learning and, in fact, discovered that one’s only place of residence is one’s inner self. It is perhaps from this realisation that his passion for writing music was born.

“Going to Where the Tea Trees Are” (2006) brings all the personal vicissitudes this Swede suggests into focus. Speaking of desires to belong, of the search for a place to land and rest at peace with one’s eyes closed, this singer-songwriter chooses placidity as the seed of songs that brim with fertility.

In his smooth notes on life, there is a finely traced pop sensibility, with resplendent and intimate folk undertones that are no accident. Besides his travels, his experiences working with Bertrand Burgalat, participating with Michel Houellebecq on “Présence Humaine”, and producing Vincent Delerm have taught him to develop a sixth sense as well as a talent that resonates with people on a very real level.
