This is certainly a surprise return, and a reunion that promises to be rather unique. Much like when they took there first steps back in the days of the early Spanish electronic scene, Najwa Nimri and Carlos Jean have continued along paths that, to a certain extent, owe much to their first project.
“No Blood” (1998) was the first album by this duo who revealed a certain penchant for trip-hop and the silkier side of electronic music. The voice of Najwa Nimri – who had already sung soul with Respect and jazz with Clan Club – beautifully enhanced Jean’s arrangements, giving them a certain visual quality. This is further apparent on their contributions to the soundtracks of Daniel Calparsoro’s “Asfalto” (2000) and “Guerreros” (2002).
Then Nimri and Jean, driven by their own desires to explore, went their separate ways, blazing their own trails as solo artists. Until now, that is, this year at FIB Heineken 2007, where they once again will join their names and perform together. What will the concert be like?
