Kiko Veneno

Much deserved is the recognition Kiko Veneno has justly received, for he has written and indeed continues writing a thrilling chapter in the history of Spanish music. More of a rocker than many self-proclaimed rockers, Kiko Veneno is a true-blue artist.

It was years ago when José María López Sanfeliú packed his bags and went in search of something different. Along the way, he discovered the power of Bob Dylan and the substance of flamenco. Soon afterwards he met the Amador brothers, Rafael and Raimundo, with whom he ended up making a decisive album in Spanish music, “Veneno” (1977).

Now going by the name Kiko Veneno, he collaborated with Camarón de la Isla on the mythical “Volando Voy”, another milestone in music history. Over the years this maestro has recorded albums that have showcased his extraordinary composition skills. “Échate Un Cantecito” (1992) and “Está Muy Bien Eso Del Cariño” (1995) are just two examples of what can be done by an artist who has as much magic as he does groove.
