These Swedes have a special ability to make their pop music sound so natural – theirs are the kind of songs all sorts of people find themselves singing day to day. Perhaps that is part of their hook: telling stories that could happen to us all, but with a certain turn of the screw that makes them vivid pop vignettes.

Their major influences include Sonic Youth and Neil Young, and while their influences shine through in their work, their own particular sound – far from being a tribute – is so unique, as evidenced by albums like “Turn Off the Light” (2000), “Switzerland Heritage” (2001) and “Not on Top” (2005).

On top of this, André and David-Ivar’s band has shared recordings with groups as peculiar as Cerberus Shoal, and they have toured with Julie Doiron. With “Giant” (2006), Herman Düne have made their mark once again with one of those great and rare discs that does not have a bad cut on it.
